Japanese Shawl (3) from Elegance Knit # 11

Japanese Shawl (3) from Elegance Knit # 11

Posted in [Our Projects] By MitzyGoose

This is the shawl from Elegance knits #11. The first attempt didn't do too well and had to be ripped out. We learned the importance of 1) lifelines and 2) reviewing the work after each non-purl row! If you study the patterning, you can ""see"" the errors only 1-4 rows after it's made so that the correction can be done without too much pain (or extra yarn...). Wait too long and you're ripping out.

We decided to do one lifeline after the first section - row 26, then another one every 10 rows (roughly middle of the section and end of the section). One thing about lifelines that we learned...we tied them off at each side to avoid having them ""slide out"" over time (in case we had to rip out more than one section due to an error). We also marked each lifeline with the row number so that it'd be easier to figure out where in the pattern to restart, without recounting. We've got markers at the beginning and end of each star repeat section.
