Knitting Pattrens Book 250 - Hirose

Knitting Pattrens Book 250 - Hirose

Posted in [Japanese Stitch Libraries] By MitzyGoose

This is a really cool book. The first section is crochet and includes:

  • ""Ground"" stitches for larger areas
  • ""Granny Squares""
  • Flowers - shown individually and in groups
  • Edgings

One cool thing is that some patterns are shown crocheted in two different yarns (ie row 1 is one yarn and row 2 is a second yarn). The contrast of the two yarns was quite interesting and gives a radically different look, compared to crocheting the entire pattern in one yarn. If you think that crochet is old and granny, some of these patterns can change your mind! Some of the patterns are very dense and some are airy/lacy. It's a good balance of crochet patterns!

The second section is knitting patterns and again...it's a mixed bag of really cool patterns. One interesting feature is the decoration using bullion embroidery and beads (all done after the knitting is complete).
Here's what you get:

  • Unique Cable like designs
  • Lacy designs
  • Designs with mini bobbles and big bobbles
  • Interesting two color designs (some just ""mosaic like"" and some with texture)
  • Some ground stitches when Stockinette is just too boring

We really like this book but we also recommend the other Red 250 book too!
